The Te Whenua Hou farming development is 40km northwest of Christchurch and sits within the takiwā (tribal area) of Ngāi Tahu hapū (sub-tribe) Ngāi Tūāhuriri. Ngāi Tahu Farming are using best-practice technology on this development and are carrying out a research project in partnership with Lincoln University. Currently there are seven operational dairy and five grazing farms. Conversion from forestry to grazing is underway on a further three farms.
